Modern psychiatry has become a shadow of it's former self, with patient visits limited to only a few minutes, and doctors prescribing medications based on superficial complaints. Psychiatric care becomes a revolving door, with random med trials that fail to help people feel better. People don't receive what they need the most-- a person who takes the time to truly understand how they feel, who uses advanced knowledge of the mind and brain to advance insight and reduce the lonely suffering of those seeking help.
I am proud to describe my practice as a return to 'old fashioned medicine,' when doctors took the time to know their patients, and people were not pushed out the door as soon as they came in. I see at most two people per hour for follow-up, while many practices see 4-6 or more. Taking the time to truly understand people allows me to get things right-- the FIRST time. And patients are left knowing that their psychiatrist understands them-- and will do whatever he can to help.
When you come to an appointment in my practice you will spend a few minutes waiting for a 30-minute appointment-- not the other way around!
