Dr. Craig Boyajian is a Psychiatrist practicing in Belmont, MA.

I am currently a staff psychiatrist at McLean Hospital, in Belmont, MA, where I also did my residency. My primary areas of experience are mood, anxiety and substance abuse disorders. I prefer to use both psychotherapy and medication to treat disorders, and also emphasize diet and nutritional issues.
In my experience, many people treated today by psychiatrists are over-medicated, with too many meds and doses that are too high, resulting in excessive toxicity and a decline in the person's quality of life. Much of this arises, I believe, because the person's psychological development is not attended to, and medication is "pushed" in an attempt to fix problems that must be addressed in other ways.
Sorting out such complex problems requires time, and a thoughtful, patient approach. I try to work with my patients over time, improving their function while thoughtfully assessing their long-term needs and addressing more complex issues that have interefered with their lives
