I am a child and adolescent psychiatrist working with Sonego and Associates, a long-established practice of psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers.
Symptoms of psychiatric illnesses can be intense and challenging for not just the patient, but for their entire family. For the children and families who struggle with a mental health diagnosis, no aspect of their lives will go untouched. Successful treatment can be found in therapy, medication, and alternative treatments such as exercise or spiritual interventions; and often requires all of the above. Most patients and families come to me for the medication management of mental health diagnoses. Many parents understandably have concerns about the use of psychiatric medications for their children. It is my philosophy that the judicious and educated use of psychotropic medications can be a valuable part of your child’s treatment plan. It is always the parents decision though if they want to begin that aspect of treatment.
I offer treatment of ADHD, mood disorders such as bipolar disorder and depression, anxiety disorders, oppositional defiant disorder, pervasive developmental disorders such as autism and Asperger’s, and psychotic disorders.
